The Challenge of Colour

First lets say the colour challenge did not have the reaction I expected.

It went as follows...

Green: 10 drops of green food colouring in milk or cordial 3 times.

    Result:  Samantha definitely became more active. I would not say any one behavior was abnormal for a four year old but to have all of them in between 1pm and 5pm I would say is a reaction. She became louder, would squawk, give a piercing scream then laugh, she injured herself at least three times, was on all fours spinning around saying, "look at me Mom I'm a dog, I'm a dog" and was generally noisy.

Red: 5 drops of red food colouring in milk or cordial 3 times

Dressed up as a princess for her last day of swim lessons before the holidays.
Can't say I see the point of wearing a costume to swimming.

    Result: This was the biggest surprise. There did not seem to be any reaction, I even gave her a fourth dose to make sure. She was a bit more clumsy but still played calm and quiet. But then at bed time she started her "I'm scared, don't leave me," routine which she hasn't done for two weeks.

Then she woke in the night and didn't want me to leave her and finally came into bed with us.

Yellow: 5 drops of yellow food colouring in milk 3 times.

   Result: This was interesting it was like someone turned her volume up, she talked in much louder than usual voice and found blood curdling screams very funny. This was the night of the memorial so I was a bit nervous. It was already dark when I went into the bathroom to get ready and Samantha began her "Don't leave me I'm scared," she refused to go into her room or any other room of the house unless someone else turned the light on for her.

Now it is Sunday and I feel she is still showing effects of the food colouring. She has restarted her non-stop talking and questioning. It gets to the point I can't follow her line of thought at all.

So I had expected her to begin running around jumping of the walls, talking back and being terrible but that isn't what happened. When the reactions started I didn't recognise it, it was so subtle but then when one thing added on to another it all adds up to a reaction.

Conclusion: Food Colours are Out--not that anyone should be surprised.

The Memorial

We set a new record for Perth Chinese, 189 at the memorial. It was the South cong and the Central cong together but still that only adds up to 86 publishers. It was wonderful and at least a few bible studies have been started from it.







Here is Sam and I this morning before going witnessing.

The matching dresses were her idea not mine. She is camouflaged.
I got the fabric for $2 a metre and she asked me to make one to match. Two dresses for $4 isn't bad.
