Oatmeal Bickies aka Oatmeal Cookies

First of all we have made our first mile stone 3 Weeks failsafe. Woo hooo! Yipee! Three cheers!
We are set to start the food colour challenge Tuesday after swim lessons.
I'll let you know how it goes, should be fun, like a barrel full of monkey's on a sugar high.

Now the bickies...
They may not look particularly exciting but to a person who has not had an oatmeal cookie in 8 years they are very special. Now I have seen this box many times in the shops, it is by the company that makes my favourite Rice Flakes, but you see it says wheat free not Gluten Free.

Then I noticed a couple of shops have begun carrying Bob's Red Mill items, so exciting but soooooo expensive! Think $12 for a smallish bag of oats. I also noted the package said wheat free not gluten free. Then in Fed Up I read how grateful Sue Dengate was that gluten free oats are now available in Australia. This got me curious. So next shopping trip I picked up the box at the shops. These oats are 100% processed separate from wheat and batch tested for contamination, aka they are gluten free.

I think perhaps in Australia they are not allowed to label them gluten free as the scientific community can't agree on whether or not they are safe for celiacs to eat.  However I am happy to report we are on our third batch of oatmeal bickies with not one symptom of gluten "poisoning".

Better still this is the first homemade bickie Samantha really really likes!

So I am a very contented woman.

(Oh and these oats are only $5.40 a box, not cheap as chips but budget worthy)
