No Boys Allowed

Who needs brothers when you have a Dad?

I was in the kitchen looking through junk mail. Stuart cam in smiling and began making a cup of tea, when Samantha called from the living room.
"Mom, how do you spell aloud?
"A-L-O-U-D"
Stuart says, "You left out the 'e'"
I think "huh? aloude?!?" and look suitably confused.
Samantha yells, "What? Ho do you spell aloud?
I begin again slower realising she was spelling not reading, "A...L..."
"Double L" says Stuart.
"Huh?" I pause, "Samantha what kind of aloud do you want to spell?"
"Aloud, aloud"
None the wiser I go to have a look and there she is kneeling at her chalk board outside her bedroom door  with " NOBOYS" written on it.
She wants 'allowed' not 'aloud'!!

Ai  yo English makes no sense at all.
And I don't know what brought on the need for such a sign, must be a father, daughter thing.

  1. If there are no boys allowed then there will be no boys aloud. See, English makes perfect sense. Or is that scents? Or cents?

  2. Ohhhh, this blog entry is so sweet!! I love the father, daughter picture. And I will confess that like you I was thinking ALOUD--like daughter, like mother I guess.
